The British accent global brands ask for

Received Pronunciation – the accent commonly described as “BBC English”, “Queen’s English” or simply “standard British” – remains the most requested British accent in global advertising. International brands ask for RP because it is the version of British English that travels: clear, neutral on a regional level, instantly recognisable as British without locking the message to one specific region.

It is the voice of premium watch brands, airline safety films, heritage car marques, period drama, museum audio guides and most globally distributed corporate content. But modern RP is not what most people think – and brands that book mid-century RP by default often sound dated. We represent voices across the full RP spectrum, from traditional through contemporary, and we help clients pick the right register for the script.

Traditional vs contemporary RP - choosing the right register

RP exists on a spectrum, and choosing the wrong end can date a brand by twenty years overnight. We will send paired traditional and contemporary auditions on any brief where the choice is not obvious.

Traditional RP

The clipped, slightly mannered tone of pre-1980s BBC newsreaders. Still has its place – heritage brands, period drama, vintage-feel campaigns, museum content and certain government and royal contexts all benefit from it, because the formality is part of the message.

Works for: heritage and royal, period drama, museum, ceremonial, vintage brand work.

Contemporary RP

The standard for most modern advertising: still standard British English on the level of vowels and consonants, but conversational, warmer and less mannered, with the rhythms of how educated southern English speakers actually talk in 2026.

Works for: luxury and premium advertising, finance, tech, global corporate, contemporary drama.

Conversational RP

The softest, most relaxed end of the spectrum – reads as standard British but feels closer to a friend talking. Now the default in much SaaS, fintech and lifestyle advertising aimed at international audiences.

Works for: SaaS and fintech brand work, lifestyle, explainer, podcast hosting.

Neutral British

Effectively the same thing as contemporary RP in modern usage: educated southern British English with no strong regional markers. The phrase most clients reach for when they want “RP but not posh”.

Works for: e-learning, corporate narration, training, neutral global content.

RP dubbing and ADR session at Easy Tiger Voices

Dubbing & ADR

RP dubbing and ADR

We cast and record RP dubbing across the sync levels a project needs, from rough-sync and time-sync through to full lip-sync, plus ADR and voice replacement, for film, TV, streaming, games and corporate content.

Casting matters as much in a dub as in an original read. An audience hears a mismatched voice immediately, so we match native RP voices to the on-screen performance, not just the script.

See the full service on our dubbing and ADR page, or read our guide to the difference between dubbing and voice over.

RP voiceover - FAQs

It is the accent most often described as “standard British” or “BBC English”: clear, regionally neutral, historically the prestige form of British English. It is the most internationally recognisable British accent.

Constantly. RP remains the default British accent for luxury, finance, heritage and global campaigns. Contemporary RP – softer than the mid-century version – is what most modern ads actually book.

Effectively none in modern usage. “Neutral British” is what most clients mean when they ask for RP today: educated southern British English with no strong regional markers.

Many can, but we usually recommend against it. Hybrid mid-Atlantic delivery often undermines the reason a brand booked British in the first place. We will advise on the call.

Yes, across all age ranges from twenties through to character voices in their seventies. Filter on the roster page or ask us to send a focused shortlist.

Standard delivery is twenty-four hours from script approval. Urgent corporate or news-led work we regularly turn in two to three hours.
