Brazil is the largest Portuguese-speaking market in the world by a wide margin. With more than 210 million native speakers, it has its own film industry, its own streaming output, its own enormous advertising market and a distinct sound that has nothing in common with the European Portuguese spoken in Portugal. If your audience is in Brazil, you need Brazilian Portuguese – not “Portuguese” in the abstract. Getting this right is the single most important casting decision when localising into PT-BR.
Brazil also matters beyond Brazil. UK and European production companies adapt content for Brazilian streamers and broadcasters every week. Multinationals with Brazilian operations need internal communications, training and customer-facing audio that sounds genuinely native. Global advertisers running pan-LATAM campaigns separate Brazilian Portuguese out as its own version. A native PT-BR voice is the only acceptable casting answer for any of those briefs.
At a glance
Brazilian Portuguese is not a single accent. A pan-regional Brazilian standard, sometimes called “portugues padrao” or simply the accent used by Globo’s national news, is what most national advertising and broadcast work asks for. Underneath that, the regional accents carry strong cultural weight and are used deliberately when a brief wants regional flavour.
The pan-regional Brazilian sound used by Globo, the major streamers and most national TV and radio. Broadly based on Sao Paulo and Rio with regional features smoothed out. The default for any campaign aimed at the whole Brazilian market.
Works for: national advertising, broadcast, e-learning, corporate, dubbing.
Metropolitan, business-like and authoritative. The accent of Brazil’s commercial capital and the default sound of Brazilian corporate work. Reads as serious, professional and contemporary.
Works for: corporate, B2B, finance, technology, urban brand work.
Warm, beach-y and stylish. Famous for the soft “s” sound at the end of syllables. Carries strong cultural associations with music, fashion, leisure and Brazilian lifestyle.
Works for: fashion, music, lifestyle, tourism, drinks and youth brands.
The rhythmic, immediately recognisable accent of Bahia, Pernambuco, Ceara and the broader Northeast. Used deliberately to evoke regional pride or authenticity in food, music, tourism and heritage campaigns.
Works for: regional Northeast campaigns, food, music, tourism, factual content.
Gentler and more conversational, with a soft, almost shy quality at times. Belo Horizonte and the wider Minas Gerais region. Often used for warm, approachable consumer brands and character work.
Works for: approachable consumer brands, character work, food and family content.
The accent of Rio Grande do Sul and the broader South, with a slightly different vowel system and traces of Italian and German influence. Distinct enough to be immediately placeable.
Works for: regional southern campaigns, heritage and agricultural brands, character work.

Dubbing & ADR
We cast and record Brazilian Portuguese dubbing across the sync levels a project needs, from rough-sync and time-sync through to full lip-sync, plus ADR and voice replacement, for film, TV, streaming, games and corporate content.
Casting matters as much in a dub as in an original read. An audience hears a mismatched voice immediately, so we match native Brazilian Portuguese voices to the on-screen performance, not just the script.
See the full service on our dubbing and ADR page, or read our guide to the difference between dubbing and voice over.

Yes, in almost every case. The two variants differ in pronunciation, rhythm, vocabulary and even grammar. A Brazilian audience will immediately clock a European Portuguese voice as foreign, and vice versa, which undermines the credibility of an ad, a training module or a brand. For consumer-facing content the only safe answer is to record a dedicated Brazilian Portuguese version.
Costs depend on script length, usage and project type. Internal corporate and e-learning projects in Brazilian Portuguese tend to be quoted on a flat buyout basis. Broadcast TV and radio campaigns are quoted by territory, media and duration of use. We will give you a clear fixed quote based on your brief, normally the same working day, with usage rights spelled out so there is nothing to renegotiate later.
Most Brazilian Portuguese projects are recorded and delivered within 24 to 48 hours. Brazil is three or four hours behind UK time depending on the season, which often helps – we can brief a voice in the UK morning and have audio back the same UK working day for shorter projects.
For national advertising or content distributed across all of Brazil, book a neutral pan-regional Brazilian voice. This is what Globo and the major streamers use for national output. If your content is targeted at a specific region or is leaning into a regional identity, book the matching regional accent. We will recommend based on your brief and audience.
Most of our Brazilian Portuguese roster live and work in Brazil and record from professional home studios there. We also have native Brazilian voices based in London and elsewhere in Europe who can come into our studio in person. The choice usually comes down to project workflow and time zone preference.
Usage is agreed and priced before recording. Brazilian broadcast campaigns are normally bought for a defined term and territory, often 12 months with the option to renew. Corporate, internal and e-learning content is typically supplied on a perpetual non-broadcast buyout. Online and social usage is quoted alongside broadcast where relevant.
