Estonia has 1.1 million native speakers and a startup ecosystem that has produced Skype, Wise, Bolt, Pipedrive and the world’s most digital government. e-Estonia made digital ID, e-residency and online voting national infrastructure decades before most countries had digital signatures. For tech brands localising into Estonia, native Estonian is expected, not negotiable.
Estonian is also a Uralic language, related to Finnish, not Indo-European. A Russian or Latvian voice cannot stand in. For audiences in Estonia and the Estonian-speaking community, native casting is essential and the absence of it gets noticed instantly.

Estonian is largely uniform with two main dialects. Commercial work is overwhelmingly Standard Estonian.
Standard Estonian (Tallinn)

Southern Estonian / Võro
The southern Estonian dialect, distinct enough to be regarded as a separate language by some linguists. Used for character work and content rooted in southern Estonia.
Modern / Tech Estonian
Conversational, current, tech-fluent. The right register for tech, fintech, SaaS and Gen-Z brand work in Tallinn and Tartu.
Formal / Authoritative
Higher-register Estonian for banking, legal, government and prestige work.

No. Estonian is Uralic, like Finnish and Hungarian. It is not related to Russian or Latvian. They are different language families and Estonian casting cannot be substituted with either.
