Why this voice
Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies in Southeast Asia, with a fast-modernising media market and a substantial diaspora in the US, Australia and Europe. Vietnamese is tonal and has three significantly different regional standards – Northern, Central and Southern – that listeners recognise immediately.
For brands localising into Vietnam, picking the right regional voice matters. Northern Hanoi voices dominate state broadcasting and are seen as authoritative. Southern Ho Chi Minh City voices dominate commercial advertising and are seen as friendlier and more modern. The audience reads the choice.

Vietnamese has three clearly distinct regional standards and casting one for another carries audience consequences.
Northern (Hanoi)
The official broadcast standard. Authoritative, formal, the default for state media, news, documentary and corporate content. Read by audiences as the most prestigious.
Southern (Ho Chi Minh City)
The commercial advertising standard. Warmer, friendlier, more modern in tone. The default for advertising, lifestyle and consumer brand work.
Central (Hue / Da Nang)
Distinctive intonation and vocabulary. Used for character work and content rooted in central Vietnam. Less common in mainstream advertising.
Overseas Vietnamese (US/AU)
Vietnamese as spoken by the diaspora. Mostly Southern-rooted with English-language influence. The right register for US and Australian Vietnamese campaigns.

Yes. Vietnamese has six tones and the wrong tone changes the meaning of a word. Native casting is essential.
